Pol Knops

Co-founder & CTO, Paebbl

Pol Knops has been involved in mineralization since 2009. First from a merely academic interest, but always with the idea in mind: “how to scale this up?”, “How to make this into a sustainable business case?”, “How to create a bigger impact?”.

So in 2012 he organised the world’s first “CO2 removal conference” (without knowing that this would worlds first).

At first slowly, but lately more and more people and  companies  are realizing the necessity for permanent CO2 removal and the role of minerals in this.

Activities in which he is involved ranging from academic research projects, scientific publications, startups but mainly developing *the single step aqueous phase process*. Roughly doing this 1 Million times faster as nature does and with “harvestable” products. Therefore the CO2 gains are both the CO2 sequestration part and the substitution value of the “carbon negative” materials, combined resulting in a LCA of more than 100%.

The last development resulted in the formation of Paebbl, currently building its R&D centre in Rotterdam. And bringing this technology to the next (= industrial) level. With the slogan: CO2 reduce, re-use and remove.
