This document presents an analysis of the distribution of founders of French startups in 2019 and 2020, as well as inclusive practices adopted by signatory funds of the SISTA x CNNum charter to promote diversity in the digital industry. Although the proportion of entrepreneurs launching mixed-gender teams increased in 2020, male teams are still favored by investors. However, mixed-gender teams have raised as much as male teams in seed funding, and even more in series A. Signatory funds of the charter measure the gender balance in their “dealflow” and have adopted more inclusive investment practices, but a glass ceiling still exists among them, with nearly 50% of them having no female partners.
