HubCity

Since 2007, metropolization has posed challenges to Africa, which will see its urban population double by 2050. HubCity and the WoeLab network critique city tech futures from Africa, fostering a Digital Collectivist model. Despite limited resources, their work in Togo since 2012 has gained global recognition. They integrate social and tech innovation for a “neo-vernacular smart city” and have developed local Digital Commons, including a 3D printer, a waste management app SCoPE, digital currency Syswoe, and more.
